Free Tinder Fungus 3D Scan
After a good walk in the forest near my home, I found a nice tree stump with 4 Tinder Fungus on them. As it was a cloudy day, it was a great opportunity to do some Photogrammetry. As I didn’t have my DLSR Camera with me, I grabbed my phone (Oneplus Nord 2T) instead. I started photographing the 4 Tinder Fungus from all directions and different distances, so I could use the photos Meshroom to get a nice 3D model out of them later.
As it turns out, this Tinder Fungus became a nice 3D Nature asset. And it’s also for you to use in your 3D scenes, for free. The model is retopologized (with Quad Remesher for Blender) and has the necessary textures and shader setup to create a good looking asset.
The low-resolution version of this model, is around 5000 faces. The high detail model (Level 5 in the Multiresolution Modifier in the .blend file) is around 5.35 million faces. You can use the low-resolution model in combination with the displacement texture to still get a highly detailed model.
The Blend file comes without the moss models on the bark (since they’re from Graswald) and without the HDRI (since it’s not CC0 but CC-By). You can download the HDRI for free here. All you need to do is insert it into the World Shader and you’re good to go.
But this Blend file does come with one of my free Tree GOBO’s, so you can see these powerful textures in action.
