Free Tree GOBOs
Tired of boring and flat lighting in your 3D scene? You can use (Tree) GOBOs to create interesting shadow effects in your 3D scene. This, without having to model the trees to create these shadow effects. So it’s quite resource and time effective! Even more so, I made a nice Tree GOBO pack for you to safe you even some more time.
I made these images during a sunny day while walking in Arnhem (the Netherlands). The trees in Arnhem Centrum are widely placed, so it’s easier to isolate a single tree. I used my phone to create the photos I needed and edited them in Affinity Photo, to create these black and white images.
I’m planning to make GOBO videos of trees in the future, which are great for animation videos.
For those who don’t know what a GOBO is; it’s an object you place in front of a light to control the shape of the emitted light and its shadows.
In Blender (or any other 3D program) you can place a plane, with these textures slapped on them with an alpha, in front of a light source or use it as an image texture for the spotlight lamp.
The Tree GOBOs are 4208 x 3120px and are in PNG 8-bit Grayscale format. So no ugly JPEG artifacts in these images, and a fairly small file size for the amount of pixels.
GOBOs are quite easy to make, but if you don’t have the time to do so, you can download them here for free.
