Buckyball Pendant on Mossy Bark
This render is based on earlier renders I made of the Twin Soul Rings on Bark and the Angelic Star Pendant on Moss.
I decided to combine the best of both renders and make a new render with the Buckyball Pendant of Sacred Creation.
The previous two renders were made with Maverick Render, which can import STEP files from SolidWorks directly into the program. Blender however, does not. So I had to import the STL file and Retopo the pendant in Blender.
But the upside of this, is that the pendant can now be UV unwrapped and texture painted. So I texture painted a mask (and baked the Ambient Occlusion) for the inside of the pendant, since the inside of the pendant is rough and unpolished.
With the STEP file in Maverick Render, I was unable to mask out the inside of the pendant and add rough unpolished surfaces on the pendant. Without the unpolished surfaces, the render feels a bit off.
So in the end, this helps to convince the realism of the render.
For this render I also used one of my GOBOs I made. You can download them for free here.
